DoD Delights by Accepting Social Networking

Tuesday, March 02, 2010 1:22:18 AM

US Defense Department catches up with the world and gives the OK for social networking.

Last year the Marines banned the use of social-networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter from its network but the use of social networking tools has proved to be too valuable to deny - the official DoD site now makes heavy use of Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube.

You can now catch up the military view with such podcasts like "The View from the Chair" from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on YouTube.

The US DoD is obviously a big mover with a huge budget - it will be interesting to watch what effect it's approval if not involvement in social networking will produce.
